How does clear plaque treatment work?

Clear aligner therapy aims to straighten teeth, usually using a series of clear, custom-made aligners. The process may include these steps:

  • Examination and planning: Your dentist examines your teeth and determines the treatment plan.

  • Preparation of the aligners: Your dentist specially prepares the transparent aligners to be used to straighten your teeth.

  • Use of aligners: The patient uses each set of aligners for a certain period of time (usually 2-3 weeks). Plates are attached in a specified order, allowing the teeth to move into the correct position over time.

  • Check-ups and new aligners: You go to the dentist at regular intervals and get a new set of aligners. This is done to continue the process of straightening the teeth.

  • Finishing phase and fixation: Your dentist can create a retention plan to fix the teeth when treatment is completed. This may include a fixed appliance or clear aligners to be worn overnight.

Clear aligner treatment is generally a less visible option and is the treatment method preferred by many adult and young patients who want to straighten their teeth.
